BCB form Player Development League
The Bermuda Cricket Board have set up a Player Development League to nurture young talent and give all players an opportunity to participate.
There is no age limit for the league but players are to be predominantly youth players along with some senior ‘recreational level’ players. The BF&M PDL will start next Saturday and will contain seven teams — Bailey’s Bay, Warwick, Cleveland, Southampton, Devonshire Rec, PHC and Somerset — who will play 40 over matches on Saturdays starting at 1.40pm.
The first innings must finish by 4.15 regardless of whether the 40 overs have been bowled, and the team batting second shall have the same number of overs. The scheduled close is 7pm.
The maximum number of runs a batsman can score is limited to 100, after which the batsman must retire, though a retired batsman may resume his innings if the team is bowled out within the allocated overs.
The PDL season will run from May 25 to July 13, with June 29 set aside for the Under-14 All Star game.
May 25 matches: Bailey’s Bay v Warwick (Sea Breeze Oval); Cleveland v Southampton Rangers (Shelly Bay); Devonshire Rec v Somerset (Devonshire).
