Jones banned two games for standing ground

Southampton Rangers all-rounder Malachi Jones has been suspended for two matches by the Bermuda Cricket Board for refusing to walk when given out in a One Premier Division Twenty20 match against St David's on August 19.

Jones was caught behind on the first ball of the match, but stood his ground for several minutes before team officials entered the field to persuade him to leave. He then played in his team's second match of the day, against St George's, helping Rangers to victory with an innings of 47.

Jones will miss his team's next two T20 matches, against Bailey's Bay tomorrow and Western Stars on September 16, before being eligible to play in the Champion of Champions competition that brings together the three counties winners.

The BCB confirmed yesterday that Jones was found guilty of breaching Code of Conduct article 2.2.1, a level two offence, during the match at Southampton Oval.
