Lord’s, St David’s (St David’s won toss): Bailey’s Bay beat St David’s by three wickets.

Delray Rawlins continued his sparkling form with another solid display as Bailey’s Bay kept their unbeaten run intact after a fighting victory over St David’s in the Athene T20 Premier Division.

The Bermuda captain claimed three for 12 as St David’s were restricted to 98 for eight after electing to take first strike in the second meeting between the teams in 24 hours.

Rawlins then led the chase with a game-high 39 from 25 balls that contained two sixes and four boundaries as Bay replied with 100 for seven, reaching their target with three balls to spare.

“It was nice. I just tried to apply my skills and it came off,” Rawlins told The Royal Gazette.

“I just got myself in and went from there. The wicket was a little bit tough, but I assessed the conditions and went from there.”

The game hung in the balance with Bay wobbling at 28 for five before Rawlins cut loose with some powerful strokeplay to spearhead a lower-order fightback to put the chase back on track.

St David’s all rounder Isaiah O’Brien bore the brunt of Rawlins’s ruthless firepower after being dispatched for a six and two fours off successive deliveries.

“It had to be one over,” Rawlins added. “It had to be targeted and I just decided that was the over I had to go and a few came off the middle, which was good.”

Rawlins’ whirlwind innings was not without its share of luck as two chances that came off his bat were squandered at slip and down the ground.

The missed opportunities proved costly for St David’s as the left-handed batsman went on to dominate a timely and vital 50-run partnership with Stephen Outerbridge.

Rawlins eventually departed in the 16th over after being trapped in front attempting a reverse sweep and the game then took another twist when Rodney Trott was caught down the ground with Bay requiring 14 runs from the last three overs.

However, Outerbridge, who survived a stumping with the game delicately poised, and Kyle Hodsoll knocked off the remaining runs to see Bay safely across the line, with the former hitting the winning runs after steering an Isaiah O’Brien delivery into the covers and crossing for two runs.

The Bay president was next best with 22 from 37 balls, which included one boundary, while wicketkeeper Jarryd Richardson (10) was the only other batsman in double figures.

Third change Aaron Paynter (two for 15) was the pick of the St David’s bowling.

Bay had earlier done well to restrict St David’s to less than 100 with Rawlins leading the charge with the ball.

The first change was brought into the attack at the start of the fifth over and bowled opener Mikkail Crockwell with his second delivery. Rawlins kept the batsmen under wraps during a second spell before having St David’s captain Justin Pitcher trapped leg before and George O’Brien Jr caught at backward point in the space of three balls in his final over and third spell.

“I just tried to bowl straight, mix up with certain skills and stuff,” Rawlins said. “Guys held on to catches and it was a good day.”

Seamer Hodsoll (two for 11) was the other Bay bowler claiming multiple wickets.

St David’s seemed destined for a challenging total after being poised at 52 for two with Brangman and Paynter well set at the crease.

However, they came unstuck after the pair were dismissed in the space of three balls with wickets tumbling at regular intervals before Isaiah O’Brien struck an unbeaten 24 from 14 balls lower down the order to add some respectability to their total.

Brangman (17) and Paynter (18) were the only other St David’s batsmen in double figures.
