Police have launched a full-scale investigation into a mass shooting last night at a West End sports bar that has left two patrons dead and two more injured.

Officers responded to calls of gunshots at Legends Bar on Somerset Road at about 10.30pm.

Detective Chief Inspector Derricka Burns, of the Serious Crime Unit, said: “We can confirm a firearm was discharged and four people were shot.

“Two have been confirmed dead. Police officers are on the scene and conducting investigations. We also have officers from the Forensic Support Unit on scene examining the area.”

Ms Burns said she was unable to provide details about the deceased or the condition of the victims who were injured in the shooting.

Asked about the suspects in the case, Ms Burns said police were aware of four persons on bikes.

She said that more information will be provided at an upcoming press conference.

Ms Burns added: “We are asking for anyone who was in the area of the Legends sports bar at that time to contact the police at 295-0011, the Crime Stoppers hotline at 800-8477 or speak to any officer you know.”
