Staff at AIG Bermuda have been helping schoolchildren to learn to read as part of the company’s efforts to give back to the community.

More than 60 children from Elliott Primary School will go through the reading programme before next June, with volunteers taking time out of their day to assist youngsters at AIG’s offices and at the school.

According to AIG, the idea is to supplement classroom learning by helping to improve reading and writing, problem-solving skills, behaviour, attitudes and self-esteem.

As part of the project, a Men’s Reading Challenge took place at the school, as well as a book fair at AIG to raise funds for the school’s library. More than 20 volunteers have been involved.
