Fatherly advice given to dads

Parenting tips for fathers were shared at the launch of the Child Development Programme’s five-week fatherhood series.

Diallo Rabain, the education minister, said it was “crucial for our fathers and all the men in our community to feel supported, understood and heard”.

The first module of the series this week was “Fathers Stand Up”, where dads shared their experiences highlighting the benefits of fatherhood and active parenting.

Mr Rabain thanked Tyrone McHardy, the founder of the men’s counselling group Masc, with the Anglican Bishop of Bermuda, the Right Reverend Nicholas Dill — a father of six — and educator Cleveland Richardson, a father of two, for leading the session.

Tuesday’s session is “Active and Engaged Parenting”, followed by “Myths and Messages” on November 15.

On November 22 is “Fathering in the Formative Years and Beyond”, with “Parenting Together” held on November 29.
