Nathan Trott celebrates promotion with Cardiff
Bermudian goalkeeper Nathan Trott is celebrating promotion from League One with Cardiff City.
Cardiff confirmed they will be playing in the Sky Bet Championship next season after they won 3-1 away to Reading on Saturday afternoon and with their closest rivals Bradford City and Stockport County dropping points.
Trott made a couple of fine saves, including saving a one-on-one from Reading’s top scorer Jack Marriotr during the game, in which Cardiff went ahead towards the end of the first half through a fine header by Rubin Colwill.
Omari Kellyman doubled City's advantage when breaching the offside trap and firing into the net. The large Cardiff away support then started to get nervy in the 73rd minute when Daniel Kyerewaa slotted in the rebound after a great initial save from Trott.
But shots of the Cardiff fans biting their nails soon gave way to scenes of joy as when Perry Ng scored a contender for goal of the season when lashing in a long-range effort with his left foot.
Trott joined Cardiff on a season-long loan from Danish Superliga champions FC Copenhagen last August and it is understood that his deal with Cardiff includes an option to buy should the Bluebirds achieve promotion back to the Championship this season.
While Trott celebrated promotion, Nahki Wells’ hopes of achieving the same with Luton took a blow when his side drew away with Mansfield Town.
Wells was introduced as a 69th minute substitute in a 2-2 draw which leaves Luton eighth in League one, three points off the play-off places with three games to play.
