Coastguard rescues solo sailor over weekend

A lone sailor was brought safely ashore after an early-morning rescue by the Royal Bermuda Regiment Coastguard on Sunday.

Bermuda Maritime Operations reported an emergency call shortly before 6am from a 13ft Boston Whaler in the Great Sound.

The sailor reported the vessel was taking on water, and requested urgent assistance.

The Coastguard vessel Rescue 1 arrived on scene at 6.17am and by 7.30am the vessel was towed inshore and reported safe back at Mills Creek.
