Belco to sponsor Outstanding Teen Awards

The island’s power company will sponsor the 39th Annual Outstanding Teen Awards, to take place this weekend, it was announced today.

Belco said that it will support the event, hosted by Teen Services, on Sunday as part of its Giveback Programme.

The company added: “The awards have become a cornerstone of the Bermuda community to recognise the hard work, talent and dedication of students.

“The awards honour Bermuda’s outstanding high achievers by not only recognising academic excellence, but also outstanding achievements in community service, perseverance, most progress, leadership, spiritual leadership, sports, performing arts, visual arts, vocational/technical arts, entrepreneurship and overall outstanding teens.”

It said: “Teen Services/Teen Haven is dedicated to empowering Bermuda’s youth, particularly at-risk girls, by promoting healthy development through ongoing education, counselling and support through various support services and programmes.

“This mission directly aligns with Belco’s commitment to supporting and investing in Bermuda’s next generation of leaders.”

Wayne Caines, the president of Belco, said: “Belco has a long history of supporting the youth of Bermuda through scholarships, internships and support of youth charities and events and we are proud to sponsor the 39th annual Outstanding Teen Awards.

“This sponsorship reflects our commitment to investing in the leaders of tomorrow, ensuring they are equipped with the support and skills required to move Bermuda forward.
