A cancer fundraising initiative for Bermuda’s first radiation treatment facility has been given a $5,000 windfall from the Orange Bay Company consignment business.

Rudolph and Delight Morris gave the donation to the Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre, which is engaged in a $7 million fund drive to bring the service to the island’s cancer patients.

It was a significant occasion for the Morris family in celebrating the life of June Dupres, who lost her life to cancer in 2015.

Nearly one person in three is affected by cancer each year in Bermuda, according to Tara Soares, the centre’s executive director.
