Zoo at BAMZ temporarily closed to public

The zoo section at the Bermuda Aquarium, Museum and Zoo is to be closed to the public from today through April 30.

Ian Walker, the principal curator at BAMZ, said the measure had been taken for “the safety of the animals, members of the public who visit the zoo and animal care staff” in light of the coronavirus pandemic.

Dr Walker added: “Hundreds of visitors come through our doors each week and, in this time of social distancing and under the advice of Premier Burt and health organisations across the world to avoid gatherings of more than 50 people, we felt this was the most appropriate action to take.

“We apologise to our loyal patrons and ask for their understanding at this time as we all do our best to protect our community from this disease.”

Further updates will be provided as necessary.
