Follow the law
October 3, 2013
Dear Sir,
With regard to the tourist who was fined for having weed.
Boo Hoo! So he was caught and fined. Was he stopped by armed police? Our laws do not allow it and the American Government, ie the Homeland Security, do not allow Bermudians who have used weed into the USA. I certainly don't wish to see a bunch of US weed smoking tourists on our roads creating problems because of being high. Unfortunately the US works on the principle of don't do what we do but do what we say.
I have still not resolved my problem of going into the US on a yacht with a British Passport and unbeknown to me the goalposts had been changed. I was questioned by armed Homeland Security officers and was not allowed to make one telephone call. On pointing out that a felon was allowed one telephone call I was told I was not a felon but an alien and did not have any rights. So much for the land of the free!
