Re-Ignite Conference focuses on ‘transformative power’ of AI
The use of artificial intelligence to transform businesses was a key topic of discussion as nearly 100 entrepreneurs, community leaders and sponsors attended the Re-Ignite 2024 Conference at the Hamilton Princess & Beach Club.
Organised by Ignite Bermuda, the entrepreneurial accelerator, attendees engaged in expert-led panels, hands-on workshops and networking opportunities, all designed to equip them for the latest tech developments as well as the challenges of 2025 and beyond.
Ignite said it utilised AI technology to create a podcast that captures the conference’s key moments, offering these insights to a wider audience.
Presenters, and Ignite alumnae, Priya Suagh and Zarinah Codrington showcased the impact of AI on the future of business, explaining how artificial intelligence is revolutionising operations.
They demonstrated how tasks such as creating marketing plans, reports and podcasts can now be completed in minutes, allowing even small teams to compete globally. While highlighting the efficiency of AI, both presenters urged caution, particularly in protecting client data.
Shira Jatto, of One Communications, demonstrated how AI is revolutionising business operations, showcasing real-world examples of how entrepreneurs can use technology to boost efficiency and innovate processes as they prepare for 2025.
In story circles, entrepreneurs shared candid stories of their challenges and triumphs, creating an atmosphere of support and collective learning. These intimate sessions allowed attendees to form deep connections and take away practical insights from one another’s experiences.
Sean Reel, the executive director of Ignite Bermuda, emphasised the importance of reflection and resilience as essential tools for entrepreneurs. He stressed that business leaders must not only adapt to the changing economic environment but also invest in their personal and professional development to achieve long-term success.
Mental health also took centre stage as Jana Outerbridge, founder of Mayvera, discussed its critical role in business longevity. Dr Outerbridge stressed that fostering psychological safety in the workplace is not only beneficial for employees but also a key element in sustaining effective leadership and long-term success.
Patrina O’Connor Paynter, of Big Brothers Big Sisters Bermuda, emphasised the power of community and collaboration, reminding attendees that success is never a solitary journey. She spoke about the value of mentorship and building supportive networks, emphasising that community engagement and giving back are essential for sustained entrepreneurial success.
The event also featured a keynote address by leadership expert Amrita Bhalla.
Bermudian jewellery designer Alexandra Mosher shared her personal journey of scaling and pivoting her business. She reflected on how stepping back from daily operations to focus on strategic planning has led to both personal fulfilment and business growth, offering valuable lessons for entrepreneurs looking to scale.
She said: “I thought the Re-Ignite event was really thoughtfully crafted and put together with so much care and intention. It wasn’t just about the economic impact of each business represented in the room, but more so the wellbeing of the humans behind it.
“We all have had a different journey in our entrepreneurial path, but the common thread among us is that we are all passionate and driven to make a difference in the world with our small businesses. The Ignite community is very special, and my entrepreneurial spark was definitely rekindled. Thank you to team Ignite and to the Ignite alumni community.”
