Valentine's Day getaways

Getaways for singlesFor singles who want a little extra pampering on Valentine’s Day, the online directory BedandBreakfast.com has created a list of “Un-Valentines” specials.

The site also offers “10 great ways to celebrate singlehood”, including these items:

[bul] The Austin, Texas, Folk House offers a tongue-in-cheek “unromantic” package, including bad beer and cheap roses, making it the site’s “best place to say ‘sayonara’.”

l The “best place to forget about him/her” is listed as the Avenue Inn B&B in New Orleans, with its “Breaking Up is Hard to Do, But I’ll Get Over Him” package. It includes three nights in a room with two twin beds, two pints of ice cream and a voodoo doll with pins. Also, shopping coupons and massages.

[bul] The Casa Laguna Inn & Spa in Laguna Beach, California is deemed the “best place to throw the ring back” — into the Pacific Ocean, that is. Then go to the spa.

Historic Inns of Rockland, Maine, offers the “Get Out of the Doghouse Package.” Your photo is scanned into a doghouse picture with an “I’m sorry” note framed and placed in the room on your arrival for a two-night stay. A personal message provided by you can be printed on parchment and rolled in a bottle with an olive branch inside.

The inns also offer locally made “Love on the Rocks” chocolates, and a list of quotations from famous people on how to say you’re sorry. Member inns include LimeRock Inn, Captain Lindsey House and Berry Manor Inn.
