Open house tomorrow
Although there are no residents in The Sylvia Richardson Care Facility, it is open and ready for residents.
To help facilitate this, organisers at the Care Facility have organised an Open Day, which takes place tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The public is welcome to come to view the new facility, which is located at 4 Military Road, St. George's.
Rosheena Masters, administrator of Lefroy House, who also served as project manager for the Department of Health on the facility, said: "The mission is to deliver effective resident centred care in a home-like environment through the involvement of residents, caregivers and the community.
"The vision is about building a community of caring by enabling choices."
Being considered for entry into the Facility requires going through a number of channels.
"Referrals are received from the community, the hospital, by a family member, by a community health care professional, and /or by a physician," she pointed out. "The referral and functions of the assessment are evaluated by the hospital based Geriatric Assessment Planning Team. The team recommends the required level of care.
"Successful applicants will be notified by the facility administrator."
Asked about the cost of care, Mrs. Masters said: "It will depend upon the required category of care.
"But for a detailed breakdown of fees, please contact the administrator."
