Maersk takes honours
Container Ship Management, has topped the polls in three key categories of the Asian Freight Service Industry Awards.
Maersk, which is owned by the Denmark-based A.P. Moller Groupe Maersk Inc., achieved first place for best transpacific shipping line, best multimodal operator and best Asia to Europe shipping line.
The company was also pegged as top operator in Global Trade magazine's April, 1992 edition in its survey on evaluating ocean carriers.
Maersk was recognised first in schedule reliability, equipment reliability, best overall service and quality and delivery with little or no damage.
Maersk line currently transports about 80 percent of all Far East containers destined for Bermuda. Average delivery time is 28 days.
Its transshipment service is provided by Bermuda Container Line Ltd.'s Oleander from Port Elizabeth, New Jersey.
Maersk employs 25,000 people with offices in 50 countries. The A.P. Moller fleet is one of the largest in the world and now numbers 150 ships.
