Bank re-opens in Caymans?
Butterfield Bank has been able to re-open its George Town, Caymans? branch after being forced to curtail most services following the onslaught of hurricane Ivan earlier this month.
In a Press statement yesterday, the bank said that its two offices in the Caymans capital, George Town, were once again fully operational, but branches in outlying areas remain closed.
One of the bank?s George Town offices lost part of its roof during the storm, and the bank was only been able to offer ?limited service? until now.
Butterfield Bank?s Cayman ATM service and online banking service, Butterfield Online, are also available.
?Considering the island-wide devastation, our Cayman employees have been phenomenal in helping us open for business in an amazingly short time,? said Conor O?Dea, Butterfield Bank (Cayman) managing director.
?Despite the difficulties on the island many of us are facing, we are able to provide a full service. Two of our three branches outside of the capital have extensive flood damage so will not be open for the foreseeable future, but our two George Town offices are sound. To minimise any potential disruption for clients, however, we are maintaining a call centre in Bermuda and Guernsey in case there are any difficulties in contacting us.?
