HSBC brass to join board of Bank of Bermuda
Information released to Bank of Bermuda shareholders this week on the bank's possible sale to multinantional banking giant HSBC, show that two senior executives from HSBC are to join the bank's boards.
The bank's senior executives said on Monday that apart from these two appointments, the make up of the bank's board is to stay the same and leadership of the board is also to remain in the hands of Joseph Johnson, as chairman, while Paul Leseur stays on as deputy.
Joining from HSBC are HSBC's global second in command, Stephen Green and HSBC group general manager Iain Stewart.
At a Monday press conference, after the bank released proxy materials on the sale to its shareholders, CEO Henry Smith said the bank read HSBC's board appointments of senior individuals, as an indication of the high interest they put in this acquisition.
"We are extremely encouraged that to see that they would appoint someone as senior as Stephen Green to the board as it indicates the interest that they would take...," he said.
