Bank drops airport personal banking
Bank of Bermuda personal banking customers will not be able to buy foreign currency at the bank's Airport branch as reported in a Friday report on the bank's closure of customer services at the branch.
The Bank of Bermuda is withdrawing personal banking facilities from its Airport branch.
Commercial services only will be available from December 1, said Mr. Alan Richardson, the Bank's manager of retail banking.
Travellers will still be able to use the branch to buy last-minute foreign currency before travelling.
Other services unaffected are commercial deposit processing; change orders, purchases of drafts and international money transfers, and time deposits.
But cheque cashing and other personal banking services are being discontinued.
Three staff are being transferred to other sites and the branch's physical size will be reduced.
Mr. Richardson said: "Our customers can still take advantage of the convenient range of personal banking services available through our automated teller machine at the airport.
"Our personal banking customers, including seniors, are encouraged to use our nearby St. George's branch for other services which they require. The transfer of accounts will be made as smooth as possible with negligible inconvenience.''
