Daniel's Head names new staff

Daniel's Head Village complex has announced the appointment of five department heads and an executive administrative assistant.They will all report directly to General Manager Richard Quinn, and will all become associates in the company.

Simone Barton has been appointed assistant manager and is developing environmental and guest related programmes. In her role she will be primarily responsible for creating and managing an "atmosphere that promotes environmental sensitivity, soft adventure, friendliness and fun''.

Previously she was director of guest services at Marriott's Castle Harbour Resort, a professional speaker and special events planner.

Susan Roberts has been appointed financial controller at Daniel's Head Village. Ms Roberts will develop operations' accounting systems, procedures and controls. She will oversee the accounts department and related functions including front office, restaurant and proposed lobby shop.

Ms Roberts has 15 years of experience in the hospitality industry, including four years at The Reefs and four years at the Glenway Country Club in Newmarket, Ontario.

Latosha Dill will take up the post of executive administrative assistant. She will be responsible for setting up the administrative offices, records and office process. Ms Dill has four years experience in the hospitality industry in Bermuda and worked at Cambridge Beaches as reservations assistant manager.

Stanley Thompson will become maintenance manager and will be in charge of the overall general maintenance of the resort, the facilities and upkeep of the equipment. Mr. Thompson will also oversee the energy conservation programmes at the resort. He was formerly chief engineer at Grotto Bay Hotel.

Bruce Bean will become executive housekeeper with responsibilities for developing departmental standards within a framework of environmental sensitivity, supervising the housekeeping team and overseeing inventory control of housekeeping supplies. Mr. Bean was formerly assistant executive housekeeper at Sonesta Beach Hotel.

Matthew Roban will become grounds supervisor and will be responsible for 20 acres of grounds and the beaches at the resort. Mr. Roban was formerly a partner and operator of Bermuda Landscaping & Design.

Stirling appoints subsidiary chief Bermuda-based Stirling Cooke Brown Holdings Ltd. has announced the appointment of Mark S. Sioma as president of its wholly owned subsidiary, Realm National Insurance Company.

Stephen A. Crane, chairman, president & chief executive Officer of Stirling Cooke and Chairman of Realm National, made the announcement.

Mr. Sioma, 44, has been in the property-casualty insurance business for more than 20 years and has achieved the CPCU and ARM underwriting designations.

Previously, he was president of Frontier Pacific Insurance Company, a subsidiary of the Frontier Insurance Group, a commercial specialty property-casualty organisation.

In this capacity, Mr. Sioma was the senior officer responsible for the underwriting and marketing of property-casualty business in the Western United States.

Prior to joining Frontier, Mr. Sioma was vice chairman of Gryphon Insurance Group and president of its largest member company, Associated International Insurance Company.

Global Crossing names CIO Bermuda-based telecommunications company, Global Crossing has appointed William F. Adiletta as the company's Chief Information Officer.

Mr. Adiletta was with IXnet/IPC which Global Crossing acquired just last week.

According to a release from the company, Mr. Adiletta will "play a key role in the development and management of Global Crossing's corporate information systems and infrastructure''.

"Bill Adiletta has done an exceptional job at IXnet and IPC by expanding service capabilities on a global scale to meet the dynamically changing and high-end needs of the financial community,'' said Gary Cohen, CEO of Global Crossing.

KeyTech deputy chairman resigns KeyTech Ltd. has appointed a new deputy chairman of the board after the company announced the resignation of Cummings V. Zuill.

Colin Williams will replace Mr. Zuill at KeyTech, which owns Bermuda Telephone Company and Logic Communications.

Mr. Zuill will also resign as director at the Annual General Meeting to be held on June 30th, 2000.

Mr. Zuill also resigned as a senior executive at Bank of Bermuda at the end of May.

Mr. Zuill established the bank's branch in Guernsey in the 1970s and said he was retiring after nearly four decades in the job.

He will stand down from his position of senior vice president, Executive Management, on June 30 after joining the Bank 38 years ago in 1962.
