Offers received fro jewellers
provisioanl liquidation this week.
The shop, located in the Washington Mall, was put up for sale after being closed last month.
Provisional liquidators, Kempe & Whittle, offered the business' inventory, furniture and fixtures and a workshop in Church Street for sale by tender.
Kempe and Whittle insolvency manager Mr. Douglas Jennett said: "We have received some offers, but I can't comment on them until a meeting with the committee of inspection has been held.'' The store was closed for business since last month for failing to repay creditors.
It was locked by the deputy Provost Marshall on September 21 after a major creditor a UK jewellery supplier, Keith Gardener, called in $30,000 debts.
A creditors' meeting was held on Monday, October 25, appointing Mr. Charles Kempe and Mr. Gil Tucker as provisional liquidators.
The committee of inspection consists of a Bank of Butterfield representative, German jewellery supplier Mertz, represented by Mr. Oliver Trott of the Bermuda Credit Association and owner Mrs. Rebecca Dabell.
The company's jewellery stock amounts to 95 percent of total assets, according to Mr. Jennett. Its cost value is said to amount to $350,000, approximately the same as the company's estimated liabilities.
