Signs of summer sail in: Docksiders

By Tim Greenfield This summer's cruising season got under full steam this week with several callers gracing the Island's ports.

John S. Darrell reported the Premier Cruises Island Breeze in at Dockyard on Monday. It came from the Azores with 1,071 passengers and sailed for Florida yesterday.

The Nordic Empress arrived yesterday in Dockyard, from St. Maarten, with 1,516 people on board. It will shift to Hamilton, before sailing to New York on Friday.

And John S. Darrell also reported a new caller, the Pacific Princess due in at Hamilton tomorrow with 517 passengers. It will sail on Friday.

Meyer had the Seven Seas Navigator in on Sunday from South Carolina. It brought 429 people and berthed at Hamilton, sailing yesterday for San Juan.

The Zenith arrived in Hamilton on Monday, with 1,304 people. It will move to St. George's on Wednesday, before heading back to New York tomorrow.

And the Horizon delayed its arrival at St. George's on Monday due to inclement weather. It anchored in the Great Sound, before shifting to the east end in the evening.

On board were 1,154 people. It will sail back to New York tomorrow.

And the Norwegian Majesty arrived in St. George's yesterday, sailing back to Boston on Friday.

On the freight side, Container Ship Management reported the Oleander in on Sunday from New Jersey.

It brought 159 dry containers, 37 refrigerated containers, 27 cars, one truck, one excavator, three horses and two road trailers loaded with building materials.

Meyer had the Somer's Isle in from Florida on Monday. It carried 102 containers including six refrigerated, ten boats and nine bundles of building materials. It is due to sail tomorrow.

And the Bermuda Islander is due in tomorrow, from New Jersey. It will bring 106 containers, including 18 refrigerated, before sailing on Friday.
