Two aircraft divert
emergencies.
In the first incident, a Servivensa Airline flight from New York to Caracas, Venezuela landed around 1 p.m. after an 84-year-old passenger suffered a suspected heart attack.
An ambulance took the man to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital where he was treated for angina.
Although his condition was not considered life threatening, he was detained for several hours.
And yesterday afternoon an American Airlines flight from Boston to San Juan made an emergency landing after a lavatory fire detector broke down.
A spokeswoman said the plane was taken out of service, but details surrounding the nature of the breakdown were unavailable.
The 164 passengers and crew left the Island around 7.40 p.m. on an AA plane originally scheduled for an early morning departure today.
Officials planned to deliver another plane to the Island overnight to replace the plane.
