TechWeek school awards

The winners of the student awards for TechWeek 2010 were announced yesterday.Primary schoolsThe top five student winners in the Colouring Book competition were 1st - Messiah Greaves, Harrington Sound Primary, 2nd - Cimeon Tyrrell, Harrington Sound Primary, 3rd - Jah 'Dimon Parkes, Victor Scott Primary, 4th - Selah Swan, East End Primary, 5th - Zidonnae Robinson, Northlands Primary.

Primary schools

The top five student winners in the Colouring Book competition were 1st - Messiah Greaves, Harrington Sound Primary, 2nd - Cimeon Tyrrell, Harrington Sound Primary, 3rd - Jah 'Dimon Parkes, Victor Scott Primary, 4th - Selah Swan, East End Primary, 5th - Zidonnae Robinson, Northlands Primary.

Middle/senior schools

In the middle and senior schools, the students were asked to develop a public service announcement about Cyber-bulling.

First place went to the Berkeley Institute Peer Mentoring Program for "Granny's Advice". Second place was awarded to Rory Wilson of Warwick Academy for "You wouldn't like it either". Third place and the school with the most submissions was awarded to Sandys Secondary Middle School and Jennifer Brookes, Social Studies class of M1 students and Nkenge Warren-Swan, Business Studies class of M3 students.

Prizes were provided by the Department of E-Commerce and Gateway Solutions.

Energy, Telecommunications and E-Commerce Minister Scott said: "I would like to thank all students and teachers for taking the time to participate in these Techweek events. These are important lessons for our young students to learn so they are technology-savvy in an increasingly technology dependent world."
