Road Show to focus on homeless
begins on July 3 and will run for the entire month each Thursday thereafter.
It will begin in the Dockyard and finish in St. George's. The cast and crew will focus on the issue of homelessness on the Island.
"The idea came from the kids themselves after last year's production and they began working on it since November,'' director Pat Pogson said.
"We have enough actors but we need more singers and dancers. This is the last week for new or interested people to sign up.'' Unlike previous years, this year's show will culminate in a jaunt through St.
Lucia between August 7-17.
The Warwick gombeys will accompany the actors and the Bermuda contingent will stay in host homes.
"We want it to be an educational forum for the children because there will be workshops with artists from a St. Lucia dance troupe,'' Ms Pogson explained.
"I hope our kids get a better appreciation of Bermuda as a result of the visit.'' As in previous years, the Ministry of Youth Development, Sport and Recreation is sponsoring the Bermuda leg of the show although the St. Lucian part will be paid for through fundraising and corporate donations.
Any interested singers and dancers are asked to call Ms Pogson at 295-5943 or the Ministry of Youth Development Sport and Recreation at 295-0855.
