Buckaroo owner eyes Donut House site
to move the business to the former Donut House building on Serpentine Road.
Dennis Chin, principal shareholder of Ashman Joseph Holdings Ltd. which owns the site, said a lease was being drawn up between the group and Cauchi but no deal had been struck yet.
Cauchi would not comment on the proposed move but he said he would be closing the restaurant at the Leslie A. White building next month. He is currently selling off the restaurant's equipment and furnishings according to an advertisement in The Royal Gazette yesterday. Buckaroo has been located at its current site for 27 years when it was given notice to leave the building last year. The Development Applications Board has given planning permission for a fourth storey to be added to the building which will then be turned into an office block with a basement and three floors. The building is owned by a trust, the beneficiaries of which are David L. White, editor of The Royal Gazette , and his daughter Lesley Ann White.
The Donut House closed its doors last June. Ashman Joseph Holdings has received permission to build a five-storey office block at the site.
