Man admits falsifying accounts

A man who falsified accounts with the intent of defrauding his employer will be sentenced at Supreme Court after reports into the background to the crime.

Keith Neville Martin, of Third Avenue, Devonshire, pleaded guilty yesterday to committing the offence against Robinson’s Marina Ltd in 2002.

The 55-year-old was also charged with stealing $54,604 from the same firm, but did not enter a plea. Crown counsel Carrington Mahoney agreed for this matter to lie on file, not to be proceeded with at this time.

No details of the crime were given during the brief hearing, but Martin’s lawyer, Mark Pettingill, told Chief Justice Richard Ground his client had never been before the courts before for any offence. He said he may urge the judge to consider a non-custodial sentence once reports have been completed on Martin.

Mr. Justice Ground granted the defendant bail, and ordered him to appear before the court again during the June 4 arraignments session, when a sentencing date will be fixed.
