Biker hurt

A motorcyclist was rushed to hospital with facial injuries after a crash in Pembroke at the weekend. The accident happened at about 7.40 a.m. on Saturday, when the 22-year-old motorcyclist, from Pembroke, overtook several vehicles on Pitts Bay Road before colliding with a taxi near the junction with Fairyland Road and Serpentine Road.

Police said the motorcyclist was taken to the intensive care unit at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, though his injuries were not believed to be life threatening. The taxi driver, a 72-year-old man, was not injured.

Another motorcyclist was injured after a crash in Hamilton parish on Saturday evening. The accident happened on North Shore Road near the junction with East Point Lane just after 7 p.m. A Police spokesman said: ?It appears that the motorcycle was travelling west on North Shore Road overtaking a line of traffic when the rider, a 36-year-old Southampton man, attempted to manoeuvre back into the west bound lane, lost control and collided with a jeep travelling in the opposite direction.?

The motorcyclist suffered cuts to his arm, hip, thigh and fingers. The driver and passenger of the jeep, a 46-year-old man and a 43-year-old woman from Sandys, were not injured. The motorcycle was extensively damaged.
