Crockwell trial date set for November 27
Suspended Detective Chief Inspector Stuart Crockwell appeared in the monthly arraignment session at Supreme Court yesterday. Earlier in the year he pleaded not guilty to a charge of stealing $33,338 from Andrew Bascome and Terry Jessie Darrell in December of last year.
His trial date was set for November 27 and the suspended Police officer, of Smith?s Hill Road, St. George?s, had his bail extended.
The man who allegedly threatened to kill a woman, led Police on a high speed chase, entered the Mid Atlantic Wellness Institute and brandished a hammer all in one day also appeared at this months arraignments session.
Marcel Reid-Rubain pleaded not guilty to assaulting a woman, possessing an offensive weapon, aggravated vehicle taking and using threatening words. It is alleged that Reid-Rubain told Georgina Wilson he would kill her and also assaulted her on May 11. It is also alleged he stole her car and proceeded to speed along St. Monica?s Mission with Police in hot pursuit.
Eventually, it is alleged, he hit a Police car head-on after he failed to navigate off Marsh Folly Road and onto Palmetto Road. He will return to Supreme Court on July 3 to set a trial date and was remanded in custody.
A TCD employee pleaded guilty to several charges of official corruption. Kishi Trott created Bermuda drivers? licences without the necessary documentation or testing in exchange for money. A social inquiry report and BARC report were ordered and he will appear for mention on July 3. He was granted bail but Chief Justice Richard Ground told him not to take that as an indication of his future sentence.
Another case mentioned yesterday was that of Canadian Emmanuel Omoghan, 40, of Ontario, who is believed to have fled the Island skipping a $25,000 bail surety in the process.
This is the the third time Omoghan has failed to appear at an arraignment session.
He was alleged to have imported the drugs to Bermuda between May and June last year and was previously bailed for $25,000 in Magistrates? Court.
Michael Jones, a 24-year-old Hamilton Parish man, allegedly caused grievous bodily harm to another man in Pembroke on February 4. His trial was set for November 27.
