Free health fair to take place next month
The Argus Group is holding a free health fair during Public Health Week next month to raise awareness on healthy lifestyles and medical testing. Visitors will get information on illnesses affecting people in Bermuda, take advantage of free medical testing and speak to specialists on areas of concern.
The event will cover nutrition information, addictions and stress. Over 30 health-related charities and government organisations will be represented at the Number One Shed on Thursday, April 7 between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m.
The event is supported by the Bermuda Hospitals Board ? its staff will conduct blood pressure and cholesterol screenings.
They will also provide information on how to administer CPR, alternative medicine, nutrition, mental health, heart health, diabetes, osteoporosis and asthma.
Argus Group CEO Gerald Simons said: ?Many of the illnesses that affect the Bermudian population are preventable. Argus would like to support the community in its efforts to get healthy and to stay healthy.
?The health fair provides a great opportunity for people to test their current state of health and get good advice on how they can improve it.?
Health Minister Patrice Minors, who will be opening the Health Fair, said: ?We would like to move to a situation where lifestyle related illnesses are dramatically reduced and our valuable healthcare services are reserved for unpreventable illnesses.
?This is a great example of the private sector using their resources for the good of the whole community.?
