Governor in market for new car
The Governor is set to downsize his motoring requirements because his plush Daimler has been out of action for more than a year. Sir John Vereker has been using his second car, a Rover 75, as a substitute ? but that too has broken down and now he is using borrowed vehicles to fill in.
Aide-de-Camp Captain Robert Spurling said a long-term replacement for the Daimler could be on the cards as the ageing vehicle was proving difficult to repair and broke down on the last outing.
Cabinet office is deciding how to handle the matter.
?I don?t think he is particularly keen to have a massive car but he just wants something a little more official,? said Capt. Spurling.
?I doubt whether he will get something he can wear his hat in but it would be nice to have something he could wear his sword in.?
