Objections raised over bank's plans for Trimingham's building
Several objections have been registered for a Bank of Bermuda/HSBC Group planning application to build a high-rise on top of Trimingham?s on Front Street. Bank of Bermuda/HSBC has sought final planning approval to convert numbers 39, 41 and 43 Front Street into a seven-storey mixed use commercial development with a new pedestrian lane and communal space on Reid Street.
The planner in charge of the Trimingham?s file, Anna Eatherley, said on Thursday she knew the plan had received objections, but did not reveal who they were.
The objections could not be viewed on Thursday since Friday was considered the final day in the legal objection period, despite the Department being closed for the public holiday.
?The Attorney General told us we could accept objections by e-mail or fax,? Ms Eatherley said. ?The date from the machine will put the objections in on time even though Government Offices are closed.?
The planner said all objections should be transferred from Planning Director Rudolph Hollis into a public file by today. The plan appeared in The Bermuda Sun on October 28 and the legal objection period for all planning applications expires 14 days after its appearance in a newspaper.
