Police ?still looking? for sex attacker
A high-profile witness appeal has failed to generate any important new leads for Police hunting a possible serial sex attacker targeting women in their homes.
A Bermuda Police spokesman said they were still hunting the man they believe may be responsible for six potentially linked sexual assaults on the Island.
?We are still looking,? he said nearly one week after the appeal. ?No major new information has come in at this time.?
The spokesman added that Police had not received any further reports of lone women being targeted, to add to the list of six complainants from the Southampton, Warwick and Paget areas. Asked if an arrest would be made soon, the spokesman added: ?We are doing everything in our power to bring someone before the courts.?
He said there were no plans to release any more information about the case at this stage. Police had been criticised over the lack of detailed information disclosed about the potentially linked attacks. A group representing sexual assault victims told that officers had to give as much information as possible about the incidents to alert women in Bermuda to any danger. At a special Press conference last week in which they appealed for witnesses, Police later confirmed all the victims had been woken in the early hours by a prowler who had then assaulted them. Anyone witnessing suspicious activity should call the Serious Crime Unit on 299-4292 or the Crimestoppers hotline on 1-800-623-8477.
