Stars line up for Folk Club's Irish Night

THE luck of the Irish will be on the side of those attending tomorrow night’s Irish Night at the Bermuda Folk Club. This is one of the more heavily attended events hosted by the club and those from the Emerald Isles to the Isles of Devils will be gracing the stage at the Old Colony Club.

Those due to perform include John Bohan — he is, of course, Irish — and he will team up with a fellow countryman who will do their country proud.

Making a long-awaited return to the club will be none other than Chris Broadhurst, who brings with him an impressive repertoire and is known for both his humorous songs as well as interacting with even the most reserved person in the audience.

Also making his second appearance at Irish Night is the ‘Scottish Sensation’, reporter Scott Neil. Sources close to the Sensational one revealed he would be performing songs from The Waterboys, a band formed in 1983, which should prove to be a treat.

Michael Cacy — entertainer extraordinaire — is also in the line-up.

Joe Bento and Kevin Ingham, who have promised to do The Fields of Athen Rye, have been regulars at the club and are a fine addition to the list of performers set to grace the stage.

Darren Maksymetz will be teaming up with Marcel Zettler, Mike MacPhee and Alana Dean. Zettler has entertained at the club over the last five years. He has played the lead guitar, bass guitar and drums on different occasions and often found himself pressed into service as a backing musician for an impromptu performance.

MacPhee is no slouch on the lead guitar and he and Zettler make up one half of the Jim Lahey Experience.

Mistress of ceremonies for the evening will be Val Wallace. Doors open at 7.30 p.m. and showtime is 8 p.m. Admission is $5 for members and $8 for non-members.
