CedarBridge marks tenth anniversary

Students and teachers from CedarBridge Academy celebrated their school's tenth anniversary by taking part in a colourful service at St. George's Seventh-day Adventist Church.

One of a string of events to mark the milestone, Saturday's ceremony included a performance from the school choir and readings and prayers from principal Kalmar Richards, her deputy Anthony Wade and pupils. It was followed by a celebratory luncheon in the school's cafeteria.

Mr. Wade, who has been with CedarBridge since the beginning, said the school would now look to share in church services across the community more often. "We were very pleased with this church service," he said. "We would like to visit more churches in the community and have a worship service with their members."

Regarding the school's first decade, Mr. Wade said: "The time has really flown by very quickly. It's hard to believe it's been ten years. We have graduated several thousand students over the years and we will graduate many more in the future as well.

"The first year was particularly tough, but we settled in and did what we had to do. Now we are moving on and are going to take it to the next level."

A tribute was read out from Jeffrey Brown, the head of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Bermuda, who said he was "filled with pride and humility" that CedarBridge — the Island's first comprehensive senior school — had reached its tenth birthday.
