Teenaged girl tells of sexual encounters with 37-year-old

A teenaged girl yesterday told a court about three alleged sexual encounters she had with a married 37-year-old man.

The defendant, a British national who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded not guilty yesterday in Supreme Court to having unlawful carnal knowledge with a girl aged 14 on July 24, July 29 and August 7 last year. He is represented by Elizabeth Christopher.

The girl, who also cannot be named for legal reasons, took the stand as the prosecution's first witness detailing all three alleged events.

Crown counsel, Robert Welling, explained to the jury the defendant met the complainant during the Easter holiday of 2007 at her home.

The complainant further explained during that time, the pair became "good friends" and exchanged e-mail addresses before she went back to school overseas and sent more than 100 e-mails back and forth on how much they missed and loved each other.

The complainant told the court when the time came for her to come back to the Island for summer vacation, she was excited and nervous to see the defendant because she didn't know what was going to happen but wanted to see him again.

The complainant alleged she began to see the defendant every couple of days but the first time they were alone together was on his first day off in July when they met at a small beach near Watford Bridge where they talked and kissed.

The next time she saw him was the first alleged sexual encounter on Long Bay where they had arranged to meet through text messages. They sat talking on the beach for a few minutes until a group of schoolchildren came so they relocated to a small private beach next to 9 Beaches.

She said they kissed and had sexual intercourse. She told the jury she went to the doctor the next morning to get a prescription for the morning after pill.

The next alleged sexual encounter took place near Ferry Reach Park in St. George's when the complainant was going to see her mother and the defendant had to go to the airport.

She told the court she got on the back of his bike and they went to Ferry Reach Park where they walked out to the end and sat on "the rocks" and talked for a bit then left to find a more secluded area to have sex.

The complainant said she saw him again later that night on the railway trail in Ferry Reach where they laid down, talked and kissed.

The third alleged occasion was arranged through text messages and phone calls and took place at her home, the complaint told the court.

She said they arranged to meet close to her home and go to her house to have sex, but her brother was still in the house unable to find his helmet.

She went back to the house, lent her brother her helmet, then called the accused to come over. She said they planned to watch a movie, but started kissing and "things heated up sexually" and they both took off their clothes and had protected sex twice, the jury heard.

The trial continues before Puisne Judge Charles-Etta Simmons.
