The court heard that on December 12 last year Loretta Frances Tellan, of Bostock Hill, Paget, was seen by a manager taking a bottle of Carlo Rossi wine to the cashier with two rolls.

When she left the store she was stopped and searched and was found to have the wine which was not paid for. Upon being arrested, she said: "I don't know why I did it. I will never do it again.'' Senior Magistrate Will Francis yesterday asked Tellan to explain her actions and she said she was "suffering from depression, was on medication at the time and that her pregnant daughter was suffering from schizophrenia''. In mitigation, duty counsel Oonah Goodred asked Mr. Francis to consider the circumstances of the woman's emotional state at the time of the incident.

Taking into account that and the fact that it was Tellan's first offence, Mr.

Francis agreed to bound her over for 12 months.

WOMAN FINED FOR THEFT FROM EMPLOYER CTS Woman fined for theft from employer Stealing from her employers, The MarketPlace, cost a 21-year-old St. George's woman $100 and her job.

Magistrates' Court heard that on December 18 last year Cara Shantee Wales failed to correctly tally up two cans of milk and two cans of beer. The managers of the store observed Wales was serving a man and had overcharged him by $10.96. The tape register was seized by the managers and Wales was confronted by her employers.

Police later arrested Wales for suspicion of theft and she was detained in custody.

Wales, who lost her job and is living with her parents at 52 Wellington Hill, St. George, apologised to the court.

YOUTH IN COURT FOR STEALING CTS Youth in court for stealing Stealing a crash helmet from a locked bike in the parking lot opposite City Hall landed a school boy in Magistrates' Court.

Yesterday, the court heard that on November 26 at 9.40 p.m. plain clothes Police officers noticed Jakai Tyrone Harford, of Mission Lane, Pembroke, bending next to a motorcycle. He was observed using chrome vice grips to remove a black crash helmet, worth $50.

Winston Lottimore -- the cycle owner -- saw Harford removing the helmet and asked what he was doing with the bike. As the boy walked away he was cautioned and apprehended.

After being arrested, the teen said: "What are you guys taking me for? "He (Mr. Lottimore) said that everything was all right.'' Harford subsequently admitted at Hamilton Police Station to stealing the bike.
