it takes a different kick to wake a person up,'' found himself slapped with a $100 fine this week in Magistrates' Court.
Harold Trott, 43, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to sleeping in a derelict building.
Sgt. Kenrick James, prosecuting, told the court on April 19, Trott forced his way into a building on Court Street through a loose board nailed across a window.
Police officers found him inside and arrested Trott after showing him the `No Trespassing' sign outside.
When Ms Simmons asked him why he did not go to the Salvation Army, Trott explained that he was a self-employed car washer who kept late hours.
"The Salvation Army locks up at 11 p.m., and I like to work after then,'' he said. Trott, who has a previous conviction for a similar offence, was given time to pay.
