Bermudians away from Island celebrate Bermuda Day in London
Bermudians living in the United Kingdom celebrated Bermuda Day in London.
Since many locals have migrated across the waters, a group of young men have started an organisation called Spredluv where Bermudians can come together socialise and as yesterday was a public holiday in the UK, they decided to celebrate Bermuda Day.
Organiser and performer Jeremy Blades said: "Our Bermudian dishes included potato salad, peas and rice, macaroni and cheese, fish cakes, swizzle, our own Gosling's Black Seal Rum and barbecue chicken.
"We also had DJ's Beatnik, Mixmaster Dro (from Playbwoy), myself, J. Blakke and Zion with his band (Zion and the White Boys)."
Spredluv hosted its first Bermuda Day in London last year, which became a big hit and they plan on continuing this tradition for the years.
The main objective of the organisation is to promote Bermudian artists who have relocated and are trying to make it in the UK.
Spredluv is based in London and is a Music and Arts collective consisting of DJ's, singers and musicians.
Mr Blades, originally from Paget, said: "By combining our talents and knowledge, we promote monthly live music events.
"Our aim is to provide a continual platform and showcase emerging UK-based artists who perform all genres of music and we aim to assist them in advancing their musical careers."
London-based but Bermudian-born DJ Beatnik started Spredluv in 2006. They regularly perform as the Spredluv band alongside invited performing artists.
Mr. Blades said: "By providing this platform we are able to programme live music that is original and innovative."
Well-known Bermudian artists who have been promoted by Spredluv in the UK include poet Amphibia, Zion and the White Boys, reggae, rock and R&B performers and Clinark.
