Firebomb thrown at acquitted man's home
A Molotov cocktail was thrown at the residence of a former defendant in the Kellon Hill murder trial in the early hours of yesterday morning, The Royal Gazette understands.
Police are investigating the incident which sources said occurred at the home of Kevin Warner, 19, who walked free from court on Monday.
Mr. Warner was one of five teenagers originally on trial at Supreme Court, accused of murdering 18-year-old Mr. Hill as he left a beach party last August 9. The five denied that charge, plus individual charges of weapons possession. Four have been cleared.
During the course of the prosecution case, the jury heard Mr. Warner admit during a taped Police interview that he hit Mr. Hill with a walking cane. He claimed this was because he was defending a friend as Mr. Hill was hitting him with a helmet.
A Police spokesman said the Service is investigating the incident "very seriously" and that setting fire or attempting to set fire to a building while it is occupied is a felony and could earn up to 15 years in prison.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Somerset CID at 234-1010.
