Audience can expect laughter and poignancy
The Royal Gazette went to the Co-educational Facility to watch one of the final practices of the play 'Where are you Dad?'.
The play, written by Prison Farm inmate Lillian Ramphele, follows the life of two young men who grow up without a father figure.
And those who attend can expect poignant scenes mixed in with moments of laughter.
Jaymi Edwards, Kyree Burch, Troy Hewey, Curtis Hawksworth and Keino Lambert of the Co-educational facility will join Ms Ramphele and perform alongside actors from Gina Spence Productions in Christ for two shows over the weekend.
The play charts the course of two young men as they become involved in street life, using drugs and getting involved in gun violence.
The young men from Co-ed clearly draw on their own past street life in order to bring a real sense of authenticity to the play. They are well supported by the civilian actors and the audience is in for a treat when it comes to the musical numbers which sit well with the written material.
And those attending will be forgiven for exclaiming, 'Is that...' when a special guest star takes the stage.
