Six crew members were rescued from a sinking Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences (BIOS) vessel yesterday afternoon.A Bermuda Maritime Operations spokesman said the 28ft Reef Runner, began taking on water in choppy seas 1.5 miles north of Bailey?s Bay. This disabled its engine, and the crew called for assistance at 4.30pm. The Marine and Ports pilot boat St George?s was sent and the boat?s crew rescued and the boat was towed to BIOS.Bermuda Maritime Operations reminded mariners to make use of VHF radio on emergency calling channel 16.
