Miss Bermuda glad to be back home

Miss Bermuda Jana Outerbridge has said she’s glad to be back on home soil, after weeks overseas for London’s Miss World Pageant.

The November 6 event saw the 23-year-old beauty from St David’s taking 76th place.

“It was a great experience, but our schedule was very, very busy,” Miss Outerbridge said. “There wasn’t any time to see much of London and we weren’t really able to leave our hotel. They had 113 girls from all over the world there, so there was a lot of security.”

The 61st Miss World Pageant drew hopefuls from all corners of the globe. For Bermuda, it was the first chance in 14 years at the crown taken in 1979 by Gina Swainson.

Miss Outerbridge returned to Bermuda Thursday night, along with Miss Bermuda Pageant organiser Milika Seymour. Her parents remain in the UK, enjoying some holiday time after weeks of high-fashion drama.

With her goals set on furthering her education, Miss Outerbridge said she was honoured to continue her reign as Miss Bermuda, but has no plans to pursue modelling professionally.

Miss Outerbridge hopes to build on her psychology degree from Tennessee State University, and has expressed interest in qualifying as a counseller.

Miss Bermuda, Jana Outerbridge, returned home Thursday night after taking part in the Miss World competition in London.
