Public forum to feature freedom of information campaigner

Freedom of information campaigner Heather Brooke will be one of the guest speakers at a forum on the public’s right to know later this month.

The Centre for Justice is hosting the session at the Centennial Hall at St Paul AME Church on Court Street in Hamilton from 6pm to 8pm on Wednesday, March 14.

Journalist Ms Brooke, best known for her role in helping to expose the 2009 UK parliamentary expenses scandal, will be joined by fellow speakers Kevin Comeau, Saul Froomkin, Peter Martin, Larry Mussenden and Nicola Williams.

Legislation to be discussed at the forum includes the Public Access to Information Act 2010, which has yet to come into force, the Ombudsman Act 2004, the Good Governance Act 2011 and the Audit Act 1990.

Bermuda Broadcasting Company chief executive officer Rick Richardson will be the moderator and light refreshments will be served at 5.30pm.
