Uighur’s lawyer expects UK, US and Bermuda to talk soon

Government is to discuss the fate of the Uighurs with US and UK authorities, according to their lawyer. The news comes as a Chinese Muslim jailed at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba with the four men, disappeared from the island of Palau in the Pacific and re-emerged in Turkey last month.Adel Noori, 43, reportedly lost patience with talks discussions over his status and moved to Turkey with his Turkish wife, the Miami Herald reported. How he was able to travel to Turkey without a passport or official documents hasn’t yet been revealed.Mr Noori, Ablikim Turahun, Khalil Mamut, Abdulla Abdulqadir and Salahidin Andulahad were part of a consignment of 17 Muslims from western China who were released by US authorities after being held as “enemy combatants”.Like Mr Noori, Bermuda’s Uighurs were left stateless after they were brought to the Island in June of 2009 under a deal arranged by then-Premier Ewart Brown.Their lawyer Richard Horseman yesterday said he didn’t expect anything immediate out of Government’s talks with overseas authorities.
