Man admits stealing motorcycle

A St George’s man was charged this morning with stealing a motorcycle in February last year.

Twenty-year-old Christopher Burgess, of Ballast Point Road, admitted riding the motorcycle but said he was only borrowing it and did not know it was stolen at the time.

Police arrested Burgess on February 28 last year after stopping him for a traffic violation and noticed that the ignition was ‘hot-wired’ and the cycle was rigged with gas siphoning equipment, prosecutor Susan Mulligan told Magistrates’ Court.

Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner ordered a Social Inquiry Report and adjourned sentencing until March 11.
