A Paget man accused of crashing his car while driving drunk, causing grievous bodily harm to his passenger, will be seeking to have his bail conditions amended in order to pursue a job opportunity overseas.

Twenty-nine year-old John Wardman faces allegations he caused grievous bodily harm to Alexander Doyle, and that he failed to provide Mr Doyle with the “the necessaries of life” after losing control of his vehicle in December, 2010.

Mr Wardman was charged with the offences, which are indictable, last month, and was released by Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner on $10,000 bail with one surety, under the condition he surrender all his travel documents.

Mr Wardman’s lawyer, Marc Daniels, today asked magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo to have those conditions amended, granting Mr Wardman, who holds a PhD, according to Mr Daniels, the chance to regain some “normalcy” in his life and secure a job opportunity currently being offered to him overseas.

Mr Tokunbo delayed the bail variation application until March 10.
