A group of mariners who ran into trouble in the Great Sound on Saturday were rescued by good Samaritans, who towed them to port.

Just before noon, the Maritime Operations Centre reported receiving a cell phone call from four people, who were on board a 12ft Wellcraft near Morgan’s Point.

The mariners said that they were unable to restart the engine and required help.

But while on the phone, a passing vessel stopped by and offered to help the disabled vessel.

The powerboat and its crew were safely towed back to its moorings at Jews Bay.
