Hospitality networking event postponed
A networking event for local students interested in pursuing a career in the hospitality industry has been postponed due to a lack of response.
The Bermuda Hospitality Institute and Fairmont Southampton joined forces to host the 2017 Student Networking Event which was due to take place this Wednesday but is now to be rescheduled for a later date.
It was aimed at providing S4 and college students a chance to learn more about educational paths and job opportunities available within the hospitality sector.
Minister of Economic Development and Tourism Jamahl Simmons had been scheduled to attend as well as representatives from the Department of Workforce Development to discuss scholarships options available for aspiring hospitality industry professionals.
Fairmont Southampton has 20 positions it is seeking to fill with summer students.
The hotel’s management team wanted to offer an opportunity to young Bermudians, especially those keen on a career in the industry, to have access to these entry-level roles. Summer jobs are available in areas such as conference services, beach and pools, purchasing, accounts, culinary, food and beverage, engineering, front office, and housekeeping.
The hotel is looking for students who are motivated, open to learning, passionate, have a positive attitude and who are natural team players.
