Harrisburg on hot streak

two more wins against Wichita and Dayton today and tomorrow could lift Bermudian David Bascome's team into second place in the American Division of the National Professional Soccer League.

Bascome scored once in the first win over Canton, 14-11, before netting his fifth hat-trick of the season in the 18-7 win over the same team in the second game to take his tally for the season to 27, with 67 points. Two points are awarded for each goal while there is also a three-point goal from long range.

The two wins lifted Harrisburg to third in the standings, a game and a half behind Baltimore and four behind leaders Cleveland. If Harrisburg win against Wichita and Dayton they could move into second place. Both games are at home at the Farm Show Arena which attracted 5,597 for the last home game against Canton.

"We needed those two games, for our position in the standings to let us start the second half of the season right, and maybe a little bit for our confidence,'' said coach Jim Pollihan after last weekend's games.
